Learn About Our History | Succulents
Welcome to our dream. We are Petunia and Narcissus, and this is the story of our project in the world of succulents. Since we began our adventure in this fascinating world, it has been a journey filled with learning, discoveries, and, of course, many beautiful plants.
Our passion for succulents began at the beginning of the 21st century, when these plants were much less accessible and information about them wasn't as readily available as it is today. At that time, the supply was limited, and we could only find a few of the most common species. However, that didn't stop us, and we decided to start collecting the few succulents and cacti we could get our hands on. We began exchanging specimens with friends, family, and neighbors, creating a small but enthusiastic network of collectors. What fascinated us most about these plants was their ability to adapt to the harshest conditions and their impressive ability to reproduce and survive with minimal care.
That's when we decided we wanted to continue growing, learning, and, above all, sharing our passion for these plants with more people. What began as a personal hobby gradually transformed into a much larger project. We wanted not only to have an impressive collection, but also to thoroughly understand their needs, their growth, and the best way to care for them. This passion for growing and studying plants was the beginning of everything we have today.
In 2009, internet access transformed the way we connected with other collectors and enthusiasts around the world. It was a real discovery to discover forums and groups dedicated to these wonderful plants. One of the most important in those years was Infojardin, an online community where we met many other people passionate about these species. This allowed us to expand not only our collection but also our knowledge of plant care, rare species, and best practices for growing them.
Furthermore, it was during those years that we discovered online sales, which opened the doors to a new dimension in the world of succulents. Through this platform, we had access to succulent growers and nurseries throughout Europe, allowing us to expand our collection with plants that we would have been hard-pressed to find in physical stores. This opening to online sales was key to expanding our collection, especially those rare varieties we were so eagerly seeking. Little by little, we became part of a global network of collectors and growers who shared the same passion for these plants.
However, between 2012 and 2017, due to several changes in our personal and professional lives, our dedication to the collection slowed considerably. Lack of time and resources led us to lose many of our specimens, and our collection suffered as a result. It was a difficult period, but in 2018, after an unexpected turn in our lives, we decided to return to our passion with greater vigor than ever. The experience gained during those years allowed us to start over with a clearer vision of what we wanted to achieve and how we could do it.
With the rise of e-commerce, we discovered a completely new market: the Asian market. In this market, we found an impressive variety of specimens from Korea and other parts of Asia, many of them unknown to us and unavailable in Europe. This was a revelation for us, as we discovered succulent species that were not only unique but also represented an exciting challenge for our cultivation. It was this discovery that motivated us to create Succulovers.com in the early 2020s. We thus became one of the first legal importers to offer Korean succulent plants and other exclusive species to European collectors. And it was a resounding success! Demand for these rare succulents grew rapidly, and our collection was enriched with specimens we never would have imagined.
.
Over the years, we've learned a lot about the importance of these plants and what it takes to grow them effectively and offer them to our customers. We realized we didn't just want to be sellers, but also producers, so we could offer the highest quality plants at fair prices. With this goal in mind, we decided to take our adventure a step further. In March 2023, we rented a larger facility with the aim of creating and producing our own succulents, for both professionals and individuals. This has not only allowed us to grow our own plants but also to offer exclusive specimens you wouldn't find elsewhere, all at more affordable prices.
Today, the succulent market has changed considerably, and competition from both legal and illegal vendors has grown enormously. However, we are convinced that our approach as a nursery producer is the key to moving forward. We focus on offering a quality product that stands out in the market, and our passion for succulents remains alive. Over the years, we have managed to transform this hobby into a sustainable way of life, always keeping quality and love for what we do at the heart of everything.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who has been part of this journey: our customers, colleagues, friends, family, and, of course, the plant lovers who have joined us over the years. If you're new to this project, welcome! We hope you enjoy this wonderful hobby as much as we do and find the perfect succulent plant for your collection or garden.
